Seph and I left Emily Jo (and Roxi) with Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Jonathan (and cousins, Zwhea and Soka, of course) last night...at their house. This would be our first time out alone without Emily. It was Seph's company Christmas party and we enjoy the dinner and play every year. So, it goes without saying I was a little wound up and on edge that evening NOT because of who I was leaving with her, but just how Emily would do with "strangers" caring for her in a new environment.
I'll try to make this as short as possible....Seph FORGOT the tickets to the play at the office and so we were now running late from my very carefully orchestrated schedule (accounting for traffic AND nursing time at my brother's house). WELL, half way to the office he realizes he has FORGOTTEN the KEYS to the office. So, we had to TURN around. This causes us to be running a good 30 minutes late by now. (Seph claims it was a strategy to get my mind off of leaving Emily). By the time we got to my brother's house I was so flustered and hurried, I quickly nursed and ran out the door - with NO TIME to say good bye or get sad about leaving. That didn't hit until half way to the theatre when I knew we would still have time to slam our food before the play began! Leaving the tickets is NOT the FIRST time my lovely husband has done this, but rather the THIRD!!!! Last year we had to BEG them to let us in because it wasn't realized until we were there. And the year before that we had only made it half way with time to spare to go back and get them. I have requested WILL CALL NEXT YEAR or have them mailed to ME ahead of time!!!!!!
So, I bet your wondering what the other "first" is......drum roll, please......EMILY SLEPT FROM 12:30AM UNTIL 8:30AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think she was just worn out from partying with her Auntie and Uncle, but I have my fingers crossed it has taught her that she CAN go 8 hours without being attached to mommy! :) YEAH! I think Jonathan and Jen got along pretty well with 3 dogs and a 10 week old - at least they got to eat dinner, but something tells me the movie they planned on watching didn't get watched?!? :-) THANKS AGAIN, GUYS!

Sounds like it was a great night--MINUS your scatter brain hubby. (you would have thought he had an infant to get ready PLUS himself !!)
Glad you had fun--BIG step to realize Emily will be JUST FINE with out Mom and Dad for a few hours. It will only get easier--for the most part.
Sass !!
