Me and My Toodle Bug |
At about mile 8 I saw a dear little boy in a wheelchair holding a sign that read, "run mommy run". I lost it. Balling and running. Every single step I took I thought of the thousands of kids in this world that will never even be able to take a step. Dramatic I know, but the truth. I wonder if that little boys Mommy was raising funds for his cause?!? Not everyone who runs Hospital Hill does it for fundraising. In fact, this year Infant Toddler Services of Johnson County had nearly HALF the fundraisers they are used to having because of race registration being sold out well a month in advance. They were lucky to have reached 50% of their normal funds historically reached :(
The entire running experience has been amazing. I never realized how much of a mind "sport" it is. I haven't loved every minute but I do love the results...both physical and mental. I feel I have a built in escape from reality whenever I need it now. One I thoroughly enjoy. A sincere thank you for every word of encouragement, as I have needed it. A bigger thank you to those that donated to my causes, as those children need these organizations.
Run ON!
