We stayed the night in Hays which certainly helps break the drive up and helps to not have a terribly long driving day that way. Within 5 minutes of entering the house Audrey comes running up to me (not looking "right") so I picked her up to see what was the matter only to be THROWN UP ALL OVER - including in my mouth!!! It was the most disgusting experience as a mother. We immediately headed to the nearest bathroom and thankfully some Bellerive mothers were right there to help me with the clean up and getting us back in order. It must have been from altitude as that was the one and only time it happened and still remains to be the ONLY time either of my girls have truly vomited (choking, gagging, coughing, spit up type but never true vomit)! YUK!
Moving on to the rest of the trip! Day one skiing was a success and Emily Jo most definitely wanted to go to ski school for a second day. We only had bought one day as we didn't want to over purchase/commit her to something she knew nothing about. So, she went back to back days and after that she decided that was enough. Emily never did get to graduate off the bunny slope to the ski lift. Maybe next year. She never got too comfortable with the "pizza stop". Her and Joel were in the same class so they had a blast together!
Day three I stayed back with both girls and did some shopping with Joni and just relaxed at the house - doing some meal prep and baking. It was all enjoyable - the company, the skiing, the relaxing, cards, hot tub etc. Although, the hot tub wasn't working properly and by day three was rank and we stopped using it. That was a bummer as you know how I like hot tubs. But really with 30+ people in and out of it and it not filtering right it didn't look too inviting.
So, here it is October and I am just getting to posting about a trip that happened back in March. Whoops - shame on me! And now I can't remember how we handled Audrey but I think she hung out at the lodge with Aunt Shawna most of the time Seph and I were skiing those two days Emily was in ski school. I think all in all she did OK but I know was a handful to occupy all day in the lodge. Thank you to everyone who helped us take care of her - we couldn't have enjoyed the trip nearly as much without so many willing to help out! A great group for very memorable vacation!
