I can't believe it has been two weeks since Emily Jo arrived into our lives! She is doing wonderfully and gaining weight (slowly, but surely). She was 1 oz. shy of her birth weight when we weighed her yesterday! I am pleased with that and nursing is going VERY WELL; she even has taken a bottle the last two evenings with NO problem :) She had only gained 2 oz. in 6 days so I had called her doctor for advice and they told me to LIMIT her "nursing" time to 10min on one side and 15min on the second. I have tried that and lo and behold she has become much more alert and EFFICIENT when nursing! She had been a little groggy and using me as a "pacifier" to fall asleep - MOM will have NON of THAT - you must have a PURPOSE when ATTACHED - LOL! ;-) Everyone has their advice/opinions on lots of issues and as a mother I have decided to listen to it all and then decide what approach I want to use. So far, so good - she has gone 5-6 hours between feedings every night this week giving mom and dad much needed rest! She has just been an exceptionally GREAT BABY and a JOY to have in our lives!
As for me, I am doing really well on my recovery. Mom and I got a TON of errands ran yesterday and my energy was up. We then had a "photo shoot" for Emily last night and after that I was just BEAT! I go to the doctor today for my check up and expect a good report.
Sass, Uncle Jonathan, Aunt Jennifer, Nan and now Pepere (meeting her for the first time) will come visit tonight and have some ham and beans! We are looking forward to the small gathering!
Will get more pictures up soon as our Little Lady is changing DAILY!!!
