Best news possible
This will be short. I'm on my phone but I know many are wondering how the neurology appointment went so I'm giving this a shot as we just hit the road out west (4:30pm). About 4 hours later than expected but that's another story for another blog entry.
We both LOVED Dr. LePichon!! He spent well over an hour with us drawing, explaining, hypothesizing etc. long and short, he confirmed the OMA diagnosis. He rebutted the radiologists take on the MRI finding of schzencephaly and rather thinks she has heterotopia. She has an abnormal clumping of gray matter. She is his first OmA patient and took video of her eye movements for teaching purposes. He also enrolled her in a full genetic work up study. We will follow up in 6 months. Until then continue ocupational therapy and encourage sitting, crawling, etc. I think the biggest risk right now is potential for seizures, and difficulty learning but we will cross each of those obstacles as we are faced with them. We feel a huge sense of relief and comfort knowing she is in good hands with a wonderful, highly recommended doctor!
Thanks for all the messages and support! Not to down play this at all but we certainly know we can handle this!
