ROAD Trip

We left 6am Sunday morning.  Somewhere in Arkansas we stopped and enjoyed a picnic at a nice park.  The girls traveled very well (only one movie; the rest of the time was spent coloring, reading and playing with dolls).  We arrived at Holiday Inn (near) Beale Street in Memphis by 2pm.  Swimming was an immediate must!
After a nice swim we headed for a stroll down Beale Street.  Emily Jo clammed up and became very quiet...speechless almost.  I'm not sure if she was that culture shocked or just tired or what.
We opted for room service that night rather than dealing with the whines.
On Monday we went to the Childrens Museum and Splash Park.  I know Memphis has a lot to offer but this was a perfect activity for the age my girls are at this year.  Again, though Emily Jo got awfully quiet by the time we finished.  We were all ready for a quiet nap in a dark hotel room :)

That night, we ventured to the Peabody Hotel to watch the ducks walk the red carpet to the elevator up to their roost.  Then we ate at the Blues City BBQ for dinner and heard some jazz on Beale street.  It was a wonderfully fun time only to be topped off with a carriage ride to the riverbank!

More road to travel....in the next post!  Someday soon :)
