Emily's first week home

So, the first week home is almost over and we have adjusted to having Emily home very well. The first night was pretty rough as she was initiating us into parenthood. However, the last two nights have only resulted in 2 night feedings which I am not going to complain about (nor get used to)! HA! I keep telling Seph she IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY good baby, I think he thinks this is how they all are - and with all my babysitting experience I do know otherwise!!!

I still get pretty worn out easily - I'm up for one outing a day. Seph, Emily and me went to her first pediatrician's appointment yesterday. She was born at 7lbs 14oz, down to 7lbs 4oz by discharge and back up to 7lbs 9oz yesterday. The appointment was so early because her bilirubin fell within a certain range to be retested. But when the Dr. saw her he was not worried and they didn't even draw blood to retest her. AND SHE GREW TWO INCHES!!! LOL - yes, I think there was a mismeasurement at birth because she is clearly 20 inches long NOT 18 inches. It would be a miracle for her to have grown that much in just 6 days :p But, the guessing game stays as is because her OFFICIAL measurement is on record at 18inches.

Unfortunately for me I have had a horrible breakout of cold sores on my chin/mouth area. Its very hard as I can't KISS MY DAUGHTER! I first got them when I was 9 months old and Emily's doctor didn't want to scare me with details, but warned it would NOT be good if she got them at this young age. So, please keep her in your prayers to avoid this nasty disease - so far so good and she is nursing very very well - gaining ounces by the day I think :)

THANK you for all your thoughts and wishes! I have not been on the computer much and apologize for not responding to each email sent - time is limited and this is the best way to spread word on how things are going! Hope all is well with each of you!
